DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modems

Cable Modem Buying Tips and FAQ's

Cable ONE customers are now required to use a DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem. For plans up to 150 Mbps, they suggest that you buy one with 8-channel downstream bonding. They are the ARRIS/Motorola SBG6580, SBG6700, SBG6900, SB6141, SB6190 and Netgear C6300. If you have a plan with greater than 150 Mbps, buy a modem with at least 16 download channels. GigaONE customers should buy the ARRIS SB6190.

All of these modems are high quality and have pretty much the same features, except for number of download channels and those with routers built in. So don't worry too much about deciding which one to buy. Price should be a main factor in your buying decision.

My first experience with Cable One vs REAL Cable companies like Comcast etc.

LOL CABLE ONE SUCKS DIRT! Moved to Boise and bought the whole package. Their cable box is the same original DVR box I was using 15 years ago! Their internet sucks! So many people moving into Boise now complaining to Cable One that they are running commercials blaming customers for having more than 2 or 3 devices connected at one time. CABLE ONE you SUCK! So glad to be moving to a state that knows what bundled services really are. I am not a Red Neck however I certainly live amongst them!

I have been waiting for you guys to get the new arris surfboard SBG7580-AC on the approved modem list for about 6 months. Is this company not concerned with giving us access to the latest fastest internet services?

You should buy a cable modem without the router/wifi and then add your own. The SB6190 modem is just as fast as the modem in the SBG7580-AC. By separating the router/Wifi function from the modem, its cheaper to upgrade your equipment or replace it in case of failure
