Cox Certified DOCSIS 3.1 and 3.0 Cable Modems
Below are all the modems that Cox has approved for their customers to purchase and use on their network, as of April 2023. Cox lists them on their website here: Cox Compatible Modem List. Prices below are updated every hour. We’ve gone through all of them to find the ones that can be bought at Amazon, Best Buy, or Walmart.
If you’re paying $12 a month to rent a modem from Cox, that’s $144 a year, or $720 over 5 years. You can buy a new one that will pay for itself in less than six months. It’s easy to install. Cox business customers: Buy either the ARRIS SB8200 (for all speed plans) or the ARRIS SB6183 (for the 300 Mbps speed plan) which are listed here on the Cox Business Compatible Modem List.
Cox Telephone/Voice customers: Call Cox and have them provision your current modem for telephone only, no internet data. When you do that, Cox won’t charge you for renting it. Then buy one of the modems below and hook it up for the internet only. You’ll now have 2 modems (1 for phone and 1 for internet) and Cox won’t charge you for either.
